ABOUT TICKD

Tickd is a UK-based technology company that provides automated energy switching software for brokers, suppliers, and community organisations. Launched in 2020, Tickd began by building its own switching tool before pivoting to a white-label model, offering a fully digital, self-serve platform to others in the energy industry.

Designed to simplify and streamline the switching process, Tickd’s platform includes integrated pricebooks, DocuSign contract signing, credit checks, and live reporting. Brokers use Tickd to scale their SME customer base, suppliers connect to gain efficient market access, and community groups can run their own switching programmes with minimal setup.

With over £40M in annual switch value and contract completion rates above 85%, Tickd is driving digital transformation in a traditionally manual sector – making energy switching faster, more transparent, and more efficient for everyone involved.

THE CHALLENGES

As the company grew, the original method of managing commissions on a monthly basis was becoming too time-consuming. Managing in spreadsheets also placed too much onus on individuals to remove the figures once the contracts lapsed, leading to human error. The requirement here was to remove human error from the process as much as possible, provide visual support to all involved on the current run rate and understand increases and decreases in revenue.

THE SOLUTION

BuddyCRM would take a nightly backup of all Opportunity data in BuddyCRM. This would then filter into a myriad of new graphical representations of the data, historically and looking forward. The first and most important graph would be the run rate for each sales member. We would use logic to break apart the deals signed over the terms set and evenly place this income into a tracker, alongside all other deals won by the individual, to understand where they are at and where they will be in the sales process. We introduced a threshold so that once exceeded, the salesperson would be actively earning each month and could also see if they were in danger of dropping below, incentivising a pickup in sales. We also implemented a graph charting meters signed vs meters live, giving an understanding of projects that hadn’t progressed all the way and thus the business liabilities. 

THE RESULTS

BuddyCRM had built a strong relationship with Tickd by providing BuddyCRM. Our insights not previously discovered on how software could save vast amounts of admin time, improve efficiency in processing commission and above all ensure the data was correct so human error was limited. Once this was discussed and we had successfully project managed the Tickd CRM implementation and training, they were more than confident that our word was strong on the benefits of Business Intelligence. As shown in Richard’s testimonial (below), the solution performed and the benefits are becoming evident. Finally, the most significant aspect Tickd enjoy is our team’s ability to write custom code to curate new views and graphs from a mix of data, displayed in ways never seen before.
